LHS will conduct make-ups for the Georgia Milestones End of Course Tests (EOCs) for select courses Monday, June 21st through Thursday, June 24th. Students who missed the spring (April 2021) session will have the opportunity to test during this administration. Also, students enrolled in summer school will have the opportunity to take the test. Any student selecting to test must provide their own transportation.
Why Are Students Testing?
The State of Georgia asked for a waiver from testing requirements and was denied that waiver by the Federal Department of Education after January 20th, 2021. Therefore, we are required to give the EOC tests to students, though the tests will only count for 0.01% of the student’s grade this year. Also, if you received an incomplete (I) this spring for not taking the EOC, the incomplete (I) will be removed before the start of school year 2021-2022. We are using the requirement as an opportunity to collect achievement data to plan for next year.
Does My Student Have to Test?
Summer school students are expected to take these tests. We understand that this is a very difficult year for testing. If you would like to refuse/opt-out of testing, we certainly understand your decision.
