GEORGIA MILESTONE EOC
The Georgia Board of Education requires all students who are enrolled for credit in any of these four courses to take the Georgia End of Course (EOC) upon course completion:
- American Literature Composition
- Biology
- U.S. History
- Coordinate Algebra/Algebra 1
According to the GADOE, the EOC serves as the final exam for these courses listed above. The Board established a grade of 70 as the “passing score” for the EOC for all courses. For a student to receive credit for an End-of-Course, the average of the coursework and the EOC score must equal or exceed 70. (See Georgia SBOE rule 160-4-2-.13.)
It is the expectation that every student enrolled in the four courses identified above take the End-of-Course (EOC). Students who fail to take the End-of-Course (as required) during this testing window, must do so by the end of the next subsequent grading period.
DCSD BENCHMARK
The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) administers benchmark assessments three times annually to monitor student progress toward mastering grade-level standards. These assessments are a vital part of our instructional program and help ensure that every student is on track for academic success.
Benchmark assessments are designed to:
Measure student progress over time.
Identify individual strengths and areas for improvement.
Inform instructional planning and support student learning.
These school-wide computerized assessments are administered in English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies for students in grades 1–8, as well as End-of-Course assessments for high school students. All benchmark assessments are mandatory district assessments.
To maintain the integrity and validity of the testing process, schools will enforce strict testing protocols, including adherence to the district’s cell phone policy. These measures are in place to provide a fair and standardized testing environment for all students.
DCSD utilizes Renaissance Learning programs, which are fully aligned with Georgia’s learning standards, ensuring that the data collected is relevant and actionable for educators and families alike. We encourage you to use your child’s benchmark data as a progress monitoring tool to track their academic growth and mastery of grade-level content. This data provides valuable insights into your child’s learning journey and helps guide meaningful conversations between families and educators.
